In 2020, before our first regular album was released, we developed the idea to create a concept EP based on the movie "The Lighthouse" by Robert Eggers.

In this film, Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe play two shady lighthouse keepers who are cut off by a severe sea storm, stuck on the site of their work. In their involuntary confinement, the only solace lies in alcohol and brittle togetherness. At least until both believe to see the madness in each other.

For the musical realization of this, we have teamed up with the singer and experimental musician RIG (active since 1994 with his band JANUS) to depict the story of the film credibly. RIG put the finishing touches on the whole thing and did a brilliant job. Together with him, we bring the horror from the screen to your ears.

It was a long, rather exhausting way. Time bottlenecks, broken technology, Corona, general frustration and then again....this technology!
In the end everything turned out fine and today we can present you the title track to our new EP.

The first 30 seconds of "Revenge by Fire" convinced me to get the whole album! It is a face-melting blend of speed and black metal, reminiscent of Hellripper! KVAEN is a Swedish solo project much like Hellripper but many known guest musicians helped J. Björnfot in his endeavor. Altogether it is really a solid debut album, I loved the melodies and the pace changes in the second half too, ending with a "calm" instrumental one. Well-done!! sachavonkarl74
